Princess and Rosie are beloved favourites at Southampton’s Festive Friday wagon rides in December.

The Thomas family has been farming in Bruce County and breeding and working with heavy horses for generations. James Thomas grew up with Clydesdales and now breeds and shows Percherons.

These ‘gentle giants’ love to work and James not only hitches them up to plough his acreage, but to draw wagons as well. Presently there are 4 horses in the barn with two, Princess and Rosie, expecting foals in the new year. James takes great delight in his ‘girls’, and they’re housed in a beautiful new barn and are regularly visited by a team of folks who love horses and help with their maintenance, grooming, feeding and training.

Percherons originated in the 17th century in western France and are somewhat smaller and more elegant than Clydesdales (the Budweiser horses), and are taller and less stocky than belgians. Percherons’ colouring is either black (sometimes with white), or grey. The JNL Percherons are black with a white star on their foreheads. These girls also have delightful temperments, are very friendly, and love to be paid attention!

You’ll find James and the horses rounding out a perfect wedding bringing the bride to the alter, or taking groups of families on magical rides in small towns throughout the winter. It’s a delightful and charming addition to any occasion all year ‘round. JNL Percherons is fully insured and offers you and your group the utmost in safety, comfort and enjoyment.
